Tecman Speciality Materials Ltd was founded in 1994 to supply the signs and graphics industry with performance tape. Three staff members with slitting equipment and a flatbed press has grown into the Tecman Group, employing over 50 members of staff across two companies, with an extensive conversion facility supporting industries across the globe. We are proud that our people have helped shape our business into what it is today.
In 2003 the first rotary press was installed followed by ISO9001 accreditation in 2006, with further investment in machinery, processes, and innovative capabilities which paved the way to Tecman becoming the leading converter of advanced materials that we are today.
In 2013, as part of a 5-year expansion plan, we relocated to our current larger premises in Leamington Spa within the heart of the West Midlands manufacturing hub. Our expansion was quickly followed by a complete rebrand of the company. Since then we have increased our investments in our manufacturing facility, including one of the largest rotary presses in Europe and a 100-tonne automated beam press.
In 2015 we were awarded our first Innovate UK R&D grant for the development of DAAT®, a ground-breaking new adhesive technology, subsequently receiving a further two grants in 2017 and 2020 for the continued development of this innovative technology.
Since then, we have made significant investment in our capabilities and machinery, developing and launching ground-breaking materials, and receiving numerous product approvals from automotive OEM’s.
In 2020, after what has been our most challenging, yet transformational year to date, we developed our disposable face shield in response to the alarming shortage of PPE available to healthcare professionals during the pandemic.
After partnering with a network of medical distribution partners closely aligned on values and ethics, our flagship face shield was listed on the NHS supply chain network and we registered Tecman Advanced Healthcare Products Ltd as a new company.
Our face shield has become the first product in a new range of next generation face and eye protection designed to address the comfort and performance issues raised by healthcare workers.
